I’ll be running a sketching workshop this Saturday 14th May at the Surgeons’ Hall Museums.
Come and draw the magnificent sculptured buildings of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
I will be giving speed sketching tips and helping you capture your view in ink and watercolour. All abilities are welcome for this relaxed and engaging workshop in beautiful surroundings.

Today I visited Portobello promenade, a great place to take a stroll along the seaside and feel the sand under your feet.
Unsettled is a good word for the weather, glorious sunshine against dark skies followed by brief showers of cold rain. I sketched from the beach between showers to create this piece which includes drops of rain and grains of sand.
This piece is drawn on 220gsm paper with black ink and watercolour. It measures 250x160mm and is this months never to be printed original sketch, for sale for £150 in a mount or £175 in a frame.
A new dog portrait, a beautiful retriever working in the fields as a gundog, captured in black ink and watercolour.
The original commission is roughly 200x150mm and drawn in black ink with a watercolour wash over the top. Drawn from a photograph my portraits take about a week and can be framed in simple black or white frames with white mounts. Prices start at £65 for a sketch 100x150mm, the above larger drawing was £125, in black only it would be £95.
Prints of this image are available to buy. Limited to just 75, each a high quality giclee print, signed and numbered and shipped in protected packaging worldwide. Follow the link below to order your copy for just £35 plus postage.
An afternoon with the toddlers today and we spent an hour or two painting. Sponges, fingers, straws, wax crayons and brushes were all used to make a mark. Here is my effort 🙂
