Self Help Sketching
I have known the therapeutic powers of sketching for many years and so it made perfect sense to share my story and help others get started sketch journalling.
This week I ran a wonderful new workshop at Arienas Collective in Edinburgh although to be honest I feel like I took part in a workshop more than ran it as it was so beneficial to me. A coming together of people sharing stories, ideas and drawings. Opening up and finding people on similar paths then spending a time distracted by shadows, brickwork and crosshatching is so wonderful. I can’t wait to do it again.
My first Sketch Journalling workshop where I shared more about my process, how drawing has helped me through tough times and continues to make me slow down and appreciate the everyday and the beauty all around me. We all shared our reasons for drawing and Journalling and started new sketch books. The photo above is of everyone’s first pages in their new journals, capturing the same moment but unique to each person.
It was great to share stories with others and to watch as with a little guidance from me they brought their own life into their art. As I say I am already looking forward to the next one and have set up dates throughout 2025 which you can now book on the Arienas Collective website.
I believe this class would be a great gift for a loved one but also a gift to share so I am running a bring a friend discount which saves £10 on two bought together until the end of this year. As a thank you if you are a paid of free subscriber to my newsletter you will receive a code to buy two tickets for £90.
Tickets are £50 each for the three and a half hour session which includes tea, coffee and snacks plus all materials needed and a gorgeous watercolour Journal to take away with you.
