An unexpected sunny Sunday and a chance to tidy the garden and plant some bulbs. The whole family were out digging holes and planting bulbs that will produce pops of colour in the spring time. Plus we had the added bonus of fresh air, sunshine and bird song as we got our hands dirty.
I also had chance to enjoy a coffee and sketch our elusive gold fish who turned up for some food once I had been sitting still for long enough.
I sat for maybe 40 or 50 minutes just watching the pond and the goings on around this tiny hive of activity in our garden. Movement caught my eye, a magnificent creature with a tiny tiny round body and the longest thinnest legs carefully stepped from pebble to pebble making its way around the edge. Lots of tiny spiders but no sign of the frog we spied last week.
I drew the plants leaving the centre of the page clean hoping that our mighty gold fish would make an appearance and he didn’t disappoint, just a flash of orange, a shimmer of gold in the murky waters which was well worth the wait.
