A Floral Carpet at Modern One

Today sees the opening of a beautiful art installation at the Modern Art Gallery which will transform before your eyes.

10,000 fresh red roses have been tightly laid out like a carpet currently look velvety, dark red and luxurious but over the next four months they will wilt and decay before drying as they lay on the ground.

Red on Green will stimulate the senses as both the look and smell changes over time. This piece by Paisley born artist Anya Gallacio is the centre piece of a summer long exhibition NOW, which features a number of British artists and explores the theme of transformation.

I will return to sketch again as the roses change over time.

NOW runs from 1st June – 22nd September at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art (Modern One) and is free to attend. For more information visit the National Galleries website below.
