Old Town Sketching Tours

On Sunday I ran my first Old Town sketching workshop with the Patrick Geddes Centre within the 16th century Riddle’s Court.

It was a privilage to be in the world-class centre for learning., which inspired by Geddes’ educational philosophy, fosters learning through ‘Hand, Heart and Head’, learning by ‘doing’.

And that fits my method of workshop perfectly. After a quick introdyuction we are out and sketching on location because experience is key, – together with a few helpful hints and places to start off and make those first marks on a blank page.

Our group varied in age an experience so as I move around the group I tailor my advice depending on their progress so far.

We all sketched both in the court and the closes that surround the centre and then within the recently restored building itself. The wood panelled rooms with huge windows over looking Victoria Street gave us the chance to draw the sketches above.

My next visit to the Patrick Geddes Centre is on Sunday June 16th and you can find out more about the afternoon and book your tickets via the link below.
