Last night I finished my experimental ‘stitched sketch’. Previously I had cut pieces of material and stitched around them to make a well known view of Edinburgh, from Calton Hill.  I continued with the shading using the sewing machine and added a few highlights in white canvas material. Sticking them down with a little glue and machine stitching over the top.

I’m very pleased with how it looks in the frame, and I think the frayed edges and free flowing stitched lines make it look like one of my sketches.
