Queen Elizabeth II 1926 – 2022

A moment in time as the nations newspapers mark the Queen’s passing.

After the sad news of the Queens death last night, I was walking around in a bit of a daze this morning through Stockbridge.

I was struck for a moment by all the front pages on the local news stand. The many stages of the Queen shown in beautiful portraits, her constant smile and ever presence which will no longer be here.

In an age when newspapers can seem instantly in the past, you can see that a visual such as this can still have a great effect on those passing by.

My thoughts are with the Royal Family.

A Book Festival Sketch

A trip to the festival to see my book.

It was the last weekend of Edinburgh International Book Festival and my family and I made it along to soak up the atmosphere, sketch the new location and see MY BOOK INSIDE 🤩🤣👍

I was so pleased to hear my illustrated picture book created with author Scott Coull (all about a family’s holiday in St Andrews and their love of ice cream) was on sale in the festival shop.

If you didn’t manage to see it there then you can buy a copy and help support my quest to create a sequel, here:

August workshop sketching

This week I have had a couple of workshops with Arienas Collective in the New Town.

It is great welcoming visitors to the city and on Sunday I was introducing a sketcher from New Mexico to Circus Lane, their first time seeing this iconic Edinburgh street.

I just love the curve of the cobbles as the pretty houses turn away into the distance. It is the perfect place to end my perspectives workshop.

It was a beautifully sunny day on Sunday, I do admit were a little creative with the sky for this one though 😉
