Evening folks, I thought I’d upload this recent montage I sketched from photos the family and I took on our recent trip to the Royal Highland Show. This is the second montage from that trip, you can find the first HERE.
We had such a great time, so much to see and take in and great for the twins to see so many animals up close. It’s so educational and great that kids are still free to get in, when accompanied by an adult.
The sketch is black ink with a watercolour wash. Below is a close up so you can see some of the pen strokes and colouring.
Last night I added a colour wash to my montage of images from the heavy horses area at the Royal Highland Show. I think it really brings the piece to life.
I hope to do a sheep one next, I have some great photos thanks to Mrs Sketcher. I’ll let you know when it’s done 🙂
Have a great Saturday everyone, anyone up to anything arty today in Edinburgh?
What do you think of the composition of a few photos I took at the Royal Highland Show last week? I wanted to combine the three elements, the rosettes with the horse and truck.
I plan to add some colour later, but perhaps just to the rosettes, leaving the horse and truck mono. Any ideas?!
Evening sketch fans, I thought I would update the two sketches I drew whilst at the #RoyalHighlandShow this weekend, I posted these from the show on the day but the quality wasn’t great and so I thought I would scan them now.
I was very self conscious at first, in such a crowded place I felt everyone was watching me as I took out my watercolours. Which is perhaps why they are a little rushed, but practice makes perfect and all I need is a little more experience, and confidence.
I also took a great number of photographs which I hope to sketch from in the coming days, as ever you’ll be the first to see the results.
We’ve found the food hall! And inside I sketched a quicky if the cookery demonstration area, where Wendy Barrie and Colin Wallace were entertaining the crowd. This is the second of my live sketches from the Royal Highland Show. PS The steak was yummy!
