Queen Elizabeth II 1926 – 2022

A moment in time as the nations newspapers mark the Queen’s passing.

After the sad news of the Queens death last night, I was walking around in a bit of a daze this morning through Stockbridge.

I was struck for a moment by all the front pages on the local news stand. The many stages of the Queen shown in beautiful portraits, her constant smile and ever presence which will no longer be here.

In an age when newspapers can seem instantly in the past, you can see that a visual such as this can still have a great effect on those passing by.

My thoughts are with the Royal Family.

Celebrating 10 years of EdinburghSketcher with a feature in the local paper.

This week the Edinburgh Evening News interviewed me for a feature in their paper, discussing my life as sketcher of our beautiful city.

As the Covid-19 lock down moved into its fourth week here in Scotlands sunny capital the local paper got in touch to ask how I was coping having to sketch in doors.

I had a chat with writer and editor Liam Rudden who then wrote a lovely piece in the paper which you can follow the link read to read in full. It also includes some of my lock down sketches.

It was very flattering to be asked to comment and to be featured in this way so thanks to the Edinburgh Evening News and to everyone who has supported me in the last ten years of sketching the capital, here’s to another ten!!
