The star of West End hit show War Horse, Joey who is currently wowing audiences in Edinburgh’s Festival Theatre.
The show tells the powerful story of young man and his beloved horse Joey, and the unimaginable obstacles they overcome both individually and together. The life size puppet takes three actors to control, three actors I am told you forget are there five minutes into the show.
Unfortunately I missed out on securing tickets myself, but I have only heard immense praise for the actors and puppetry on show. If you are lucky enough to be going before the show run ends on 15th February enjoy, and sell hello to Joey from me!
Last night I added a colour wash to my montage of images from the heavy horses area at the Royal Highland Show. I think it really brings the piece to life.
I hope to do a sheep one next, I have some great photos thanks to Mrs Sketcher. I’ll let you know when it’s done 🙂
Have a great Saturday everyone, anyone up to anything arty today in Edinburgh?
What do you think of the composition of a few photos I took at the Royal Highland Show last week? I wanted to combine the three elements, the rosettes with the horse and truck.
I plan to add some colour later, but perhaps just to the rosettes, leaving the horse and truck mono. Any ideas?!
No sketching today as I was consigned to my bed with a killer migraine. So instead a look at Rubie, a horse portrait I have recently finished. I posted the pencil sketch a few days ago, but here is the final ink version plus one where I have added a contrasting coloured background.
I like both versions but what do you think? All comments welcome, really 😉
This is Rubie, a commission I started last night. It’s early days and so far just rough in pencil but I hope to ink over it later. I’m planning on doing more pet portraits in my mono lined style.
I just thought I’d share 😉
