Mother Nature put on quite the breakfast time display for us, with rainbow clouds the highlight
These are apparently Nacreous clouds and only form in the coldest of conditions and high (12-19 miles) up in the sky. Extremely rare outside of polar regions and usually seen a couple of hours either side of sunset or sunrise and, being so high, they are still lit by sunlight which makes them appear even brighter in our evening sky.
Formed in air that is around minus 80C, sunlight reflecting off tiny ice crystals in the cloud give it the pearly colours -the reason why they are also called mother-of-pearl.
And very pretty it was too. Thanks to the BBC for the information, read more HERE.
My favourite cafe in Edinburgh and coincidentally one of the first locations to show my work!
This week I popped in to The Haven Cafe which is situated opposite the Chancelot Mill at 9 Anchorfield,
Edinburgh to restock my wall of sketches and grab a gluten free bacon buttie and mug of tea.
The Haven serves the best breakfast in Edinburgh and their relaxed atmosphere, vintage decor and superb home style baking makes this Newhaven landmark a favourite pit stop of mine.
Since 2011 the Havenettes have been serving fine food to the people of Edinburgh and almost as long had a gallery of Edinburgh Sketcher prints for sale on their wall.
Pop in for a bite to eat and check out my seaside inspired wall of sketches, all framed and available to buy off the wall.
Sketch made on location in fineliner and watercolour.
This morning I started the bank holiday with a delicious breakfast of croissants and pain au chocolat, thanks to Genius Foods.
When these gluten free goodies arrived in the post recently I couldn’t wait to pop them in the oven. Being a coeliac has meant saying goodbye to flaky pastry and crispy patisserie, or so I thought. But thanks to the geniuses at Genius Gluten Free the list of yummy treats not available to coelics is getting smaller every day.
Keep up the good work, the pain au chocolat are particularly good, even the wheat eating Mrs Sketcher thought they were superb!
A visit to the Apex International Hotel in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket provides a stunning view.
The fifth floor restaurant boasts 2 AA Rosettes and an exciting menu of Scottish cuisine, focusing on locally sourced seasonal produce. As well as serving breakfast for hotel guests the restaurant also serves a 3 course dinner menu between 5.30pm and 9.30pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
But the real attraction has to be the view from this perfect setting, follow the link below to book your place and dine beneath Edinburgh Castle, I’m sure it looks equally stunning in the evening.
Breakfast time at the Sketcher household and today it’s mashed banana’s on toast for James and Zoe. A favourite with the twins and it wasn’t long before it was all eaten up!
What a lovely morning it is in Granton today, enjoy your weekend everyone, and your breakfast!
Breakfast with the kids, and although James did offer me some of his milk, at least I think that is what he meant by spitting a mouthful at me, I decided to have porridge, with raisons and honey. Perfect fuel for the cycle into work. Have a good day, wherever you are having your brecky!
