Close to a railway and a prestigious residence, but can you name the street?
Can you tell me where in Edinburgh I have sketched?
Your comment will not show up until I reveal the answer tomorrow morning. Get your answer in before midnight tonight and I will pick a random winner from all correct entries by this time tomorrow.
This week’s prize is a screen printed tea towel featuring my illustration of The Shore in Leith.
Keep an eye on my facebook and twitter feeds for clues if they are needed later today, and remember you can also see my weekly competition in the printed version of the Edinburgh Evening News each Monday.
Keep looking up and noticing the beauty in the everyday, you never know where I will be sketching next!
My Edinburgh sketched merchandise and high quality prints are available on my Etsy shop and I am available for commissions too. Email me at contact@www.edinburghsketcher.com for more details.
Thank you David, that is so interesting – I had no idea of the history but would of loved to of visited!
Abbeyhill….now if only I had all the letters on my keyboard for the restaurant there!
It’s the old building just before the railway bridge at Abbeyhill, used to be an Armenian or Turkish restaurant or something and before that a police station maybe?
Abbeyhill
Abbey hill road, on the left with the palace (prestigious residence) on your right, going towards Abbey mount junction with Regent road !
I think the street is called Abbeyhill at that point, just at the bottom of Abbeymount.
This is Abbeyhill!
This is 55 Abbeyhill, the building was an old police station then a bizarre restaurant. I’ve heard tales of it being filthy and the owner would chuck people out or ask them to do dishes if they didn’t eat food. The building next to it was converted a few years ago into a lovely bright house

The street is Abbey Hill where the road goes under the main line railway south.
Abbeyhill. Next to the bridge. Opposite the side palace gate.
I am thinking this on the north side of Abbeyhill near the Abbey with the hill behind the railway.
Abbeyhill – opposite Holyrood Palace. The old station building which has a fascinating history.
