WhereArtI Edinburgh?

Monday 11th May

Can you tell me where I have sketched?

As we enter our sixth, or is it seventh week in lock down I have dipped into the archive for this weeks puzzler. But can you name this city centre location?

Leave your answer in the comment box below. Your comment will not show up until I reveal the answer, which I will do before the end of the day.

I will pick a random winner from all correct entries and they will go on to the ‘Winners wall’ for the month. At the end of the month one of those will be picked to receive a prize.

The prize for May is a screen printed tea towel featuring my Victoria Street illustration.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is teatowelwai.jpg

Keep an eye on my facebook and twitter feeds for clues if they are needed later today, and I will pick a winner for the Winners Wall before the end of the day.

Keep looking up and noticing the beauty in the everyday, you never know where I will be sketching next!

If you would like to buy an Edinburgh Sketcher tea towel you can find all 4 designs in my Etsy shop.

  1. Hi Kate,
Congratulations, you have won this week’s WhereArtI quiz with your correct answer of Lauriston Castle. You will go into the monthly draw for a prize and I will be in touch at the end of the month if you have won.

All the best, and thanks for playing WhereArtI

  2. Hi David – they do indeed, I have been there sketching with the croquet team playing on the lawn, such an idyllic scene!

  3. Hi Mark

Lovely sketch of Lauriston Castle, which I have only ever seen in photos and artworks!

(Tried to go there using public transport a couple of years ago!)

    Cheers
    Anne

  4. That would be Lauriston Castle sitting between Cramond and Mutton Hole (aka Davidson’s Mains) just on the edge of the Silverknowes estate (built by McTaggart and Mickle in the middle of last century.) Apparently, this was where the gala for the two villages was held prior to it moving into Davidson’s Mains park.
Do they still play croquet on the lawns with that amazing view of the river?
