Kindred provides information, advocacy, emotional support and guidance to families of children with complex needs and have been based at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children for almost 30 years.
Having a child with a serious medical condition means you go though a roller coaster of emotions, life completely changes, finances can alter and home and work life may change. Sometimes families need support and guidance to ride this wave.
When my son was diagnosed with haemophilia, I remember the disbelief, anger and then acceptance roller coaster, the juggling hospital life and home. Managing practicalities like looking after our daughter while our son was in hospital, spending time as a family, managing work patterns and paying the bills.
Kindred are there at that time to give a helping hand, everyone will have there own unique journey, but as a parent-led charity most of the staff have ridden a similar wave, and they can guide you in the right direction and offer a listening ear to make life a little easier while you come to terms with the news.
When the worst news come you want everything else to go away so you can spend time with your family and Kindred help people find both emotional and financial support so they can focus on what is important.

A favourite place of mine to draw, this ink and watercolour painting shows Edinburgh’s iconic skyline from Calton Hill on a sunny spring day in the capital. Drawn from just outside the Old Observatory House it includes a number of well known buildings as well as the Dugald Stewart Monument in the foreground.
The original painting unmounted measures around 26 x 20cm, or 10 x 8 inches.
This original piece is for sale at £150 and 100% of that will go to Kindred Scotland. I will cover the cost of postage worldwide.
