The prize for January is one of my new blue Edinburgh Castle totes. Each cotton tote measures 16×15 inches and is screen printed with one of my early drawings of the castle.

I say you have climbed Granny Green’s Steps to Johnstone Terrace and found a spot to capture the South African War Memorial of the Gordon Highlanders on The Castle Esplanade in full sunlight.

Is it looking up towards Edinburgh Castle explained from Johnson Terrace? I love your sketches – thanks for the heads up about the moon in St Giles yesterday, I popped in and saw it before it disappeared!

Hmm, Embra Castle seems a bit easy!
Specifically, it’s the one of the two on the parade ground out front, on the south side, on a level and straight bit of wall – the one closer to the castle.
The other one in the same wall (but further from the castle) is a slightly different design. Did their architect get sacked halfway along? In fact, there are six quite distinct designs of turret along that wall. What gives?
