A family break to Drumcroy Cottage in Perthshire

DrumcroyCottageEx_colourThe Sketcher family enjoyed a wonderful week in central Perthshire, at Drumcroy Cottage in Kenmore.

DrumcroyCottageView_colourThe stunning stone building sits high above Kenmore and welcomed us in with a log fire ready to light. With three bedrooms, two double and a twin (plus cot) the cottage had plenty of room for the Sketcher family, even when Granny came up for a sleep over.

With an open kitchen/dining area we could sit our two toddlers at the table and keep an eye on them while we made our meals or washed up and the fenced off garden out front gave them plenty of room to burn off some steam. Although the garden had a slope (we were on a hill over looking this beautiful view of the glen) the incline tired the twins out in no time!

“A beautiful view… and the incline tired the twins out in no time!”

Kenmore is an idyllic wee village on the shore of Loch Tay. With a Post Office and a couple of pubs/hotels including the oldest Inn in Scotland apparently, the Kenmore Hotel (pricey but delicious).

Aberfeldy is around ten minutes away and Pitlochry thirty minutes after that for a trip out in the car. The countryside is inspiring, especially just now as the hues are changing from lush greens to burnt oranges and reds. I recommend The Watermill in Aberfeldy, a fantastic bookstore and coffee house over three floors, the baking and lattes are superb.

As ever the weather in Scotland was ‘changeable’ to say the least and thankfully the house had many books and games to keep us amused, as well as the conservatory from where we could enjoy the view over the glen what ever the sky was throwing at us.

While indoors I made a few sketches of the gorgeous wee decorations around the cottage, here are some of the details that made it so homely.

So I say thank you to Drumcroy Cottage, our ‘holiday home’ as the twins called it while we were there. We should be so lucky 🙂
