Here is a commission I delivered today, a pair of walking boots that have travelled the world climbing mountains and crossing rivers with their owner.
I love how objects such as these can remind you of past adventures, and people grow emotional attachments to them after being through so much together.
This sketch shows the winkles and the knocks these boots have grown/taken over the years and it will be a great souvenir to keep on the wall long after boots have been replaced.
If you would like to commission a sketch of an object that means a lot to you then email me at contact@www.edinburghsketcher.com to discuss more.
This sketch although drawn yesterday and coloured in today is actually from almost a month ago, when a heatwave hit the UK. The Sketcher family all headed to Gullane Beach, an award winning piece of coastline just 30 minutes East from Edinburgh.
This ink line drawing with a watercolour wash shows Mrs Sketcher and the Sketcher Twins enjoying building sandcastles and paddling in the warm water.
If you would like to commission a similar scene from one of your family snaps then drop me a line HERE, prices start at £48.
Today I’m organising sketches for a gallery hanging so my daily sketch is a cheat, a commission I drew over Christmas but have yet to upload to the website.
These two were inseparable, best pals. One a friendly and very laid back labrador, the other a cuddly bunny. Sadly the pair are no longer with us but this sketch from a family photo is a great reminder of their friendship.
If you would like to commission a family sketch then contact me HERE, prices start at £48
This is the second of two racing commissions I completed for a client last month. This one is Matt Bell and the McLaren car he regularly races at tracks around the UK. To find out more about Matt and his racing visit his site HERE.
Below is a close up of the watercolour on black ink sketch and also a photograph from Donnington Park where Matt and his brother, fellow driver Rob were presented with their sketches. To see Robs sketch close up click HERE.
Two more racing driver commissions last month, this is the first. I’m building quite a collection now, of drivers and their beautiful cars.
This one is Rob Bell and his McLaren racing car. For more information about Rob see his website HERE. Below is a closeup of my watercolour on black ink sketch. And below that is the photo of Rob and his brother Matt receiving their sketches at Donnington Park race course recently. To see Matts sketch close up click HERE.
What a day, I can’t wait to get back outside in the sunshine. Just a quick post to show you this recent commission. I have included a couple of close ups below so you can see the detail that goes into my commissions.
An A4 illustration like this one costs £65 mono and £78 in colour. If you are interested in ordering an EdinburghSketcher original then please get in touch HERE to talk it over.
The illustration is in black ink and then I picked out a few prominent colours with watercolour paint.
This relatively new cafe between the Shore and Newhaven is fast growing a reputation for great home baking, and now has the added appeal of being the latest place to show (and sell) EdinburghSketcher prints.
The sketch is of Natalie, the owner. Say hello and be sure to head down there early to grab the comfy chairs by the fire!
Today I’ve been working on a commission for a friend. I didn’t want to post the whole picture as they haven’t seen it yet, plus it’s a gift and although it’s for someone overseas you know how small the world can be.
So here is a sneek preview, and as soon as I can I will upload the full image.
A sad day today when a member of the family had to say goodbye to their dog, Barney. It can be an incredibly difficult decision to make and one I have had to make in the past, but I think you know when the time is right to say goodbye.
Although I never met Barney I wish I had he looks full of energy. Rest in peace pal.
Commissions coming in thick and fast as the run up to Christmas begins. This one was for a tweeter fan to give as a present, and got a great reaction: ‘It’s exactly what I hoped it would be, thank-you’
