Any ideas where I am sketching?

No prize this week unfortunately, it’s just for fun. If you would like to donate a prize for the quiz get in touch HERE.

The rules are simple, each week I sketch a mystery location within Edinburgh, all you have to do is tell me where I am. Can you place the sketch?

You can answer below, on facebook or twitter and also to keep an eye on the ES facebook page and twitter for clues throughout the day.

Answers to come by this time tomorrow, and although for now the quiz is just for fun the first three correct answers will get a mention plus a link from my site for anyone who makes it onto the WhereArtI leader board.

Pedal on Parliament is a grass-roots group of cyclists who want to see Scotland become a place where everyone can cycle safely and enjoyably. And who can argue with that? I cycle most days through the heart of Edinburgh and will encourage my children to do the same, it is a healthy and enjoyable way of getting from A to B. I would like Edinburgh and Scotland to be as cycle friendly as possible.

These are my sketches from the day, thankfully the rain held off and there was an impressive turn out. Thanks to twitter cyclist Steven for lending us a twin trailer for the Sketcher toddlers, it was our first time using it and I can’t wait to use it again on the cycle paths around Edinburgh.

My only niggle about the day was that once we had arrived at the Scottish Parliament and listened to the speeches there was no traffic free route back to the Meadows. I wasn’t confident to take the twins on the busy roads back through town and so pedalled back myself to pick up the car. Perhaps next year a return route can be made traffic free too.

17th May 2013 It may be a distant memory as the sun is blazing down on Edinburgh this afternoon but last Christmas I produced packs of six Christmas cards from my sketches, in aid of the Sick Kids Friends Foundation, the charity for Edinburgh’s Royal Hospital for Sick Children.

The cards were on sale from my website as well as from a number of cafe’s and shops around town, thanks to all those who agreed to display and sell the cards on my behalf.

I have finally collected all monies raised and would like to say a huge thank you too to everyone who bought a pack and helped raise a total of £150 for the charity, which I delivered just the other day.

They were delighted and very grateful for the contribution, and if you have a moment you can find out more about where the money will go, and the difference it will make to the children and families that use the hospital HERE.

You can also donate direct to the Sick Kids Friends Foundation HERE.

I must walk or cycle past the Kirk most days and it was great yesterday to get a little time to sketch and colour the trees outside. I’m afraid I don’t know what kind of trees they are, perhaps someone could tell me?

I’ve sketched inside the Kirk before, HERE is a link. Just before the marriage of Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall there, a couple of years ago. It’s a stunning building, inside and out.

You can find out more information about Canongate Kirk on their website HERE.

I popped into ‘Circus’ for a cup of tea and sat near the rear of the bright and colourful bistro looking out over their lovely wee courtyard.

Unfortunately the sky was full of showers on the day but I imagine on another it would be a great little sun trap.

From the card I picked up on the way out I can see the cafe is full of activity; workshops, live music, art exhibitions and more. Pop in for a look and a bite to eat, and if the sun is shining I could well be sketching in the courtyard
