WhereArtI 69

WAI069Morning Edinburgh fans, here is your weekly quiz, WhereArtI. Can you tell me where I sketched this wee fella, he’s a lovely little metal sculpture somewhere in the city…

The rules are simple, each week I sketch a mystery location within Edinburgh, all you have to do is tell me where I am. Can you place the sketch?

You can answer below, on facebook or twitter and also to keep an eye on the ES facebook page and twitter for clues throughout the day. This week the sketch is just for fun, but if you would like to donate a prize for the quiz get in touch HERE.

Answers to come by this time tomorrow, and although for now the quiz is just for fun the first three correct answers will get a mention plus a link from my site for anyone who makes it onto the WhereArtI leader board.

  1. Well done all who told me this is a tortoise sculpture at Edinburgh Zoo, I found him sitting on a wall at the bottom of some steps, behind the sun bear enclosure. There at the weekend I thought it would make a lovely ‘WhereArtI’ sketch to celebrate the zoo’s one hundred year birthday, which was on Monday.

The sculpture, by John Ramsay, is lifesize so you may of missed him as you walk around the zoo. John has worked for the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland for over 27 years on many of the animal enclosures at both Edinburgh Zoo and Highland Wildlife Park. Over the years he discovered he had a talent for creating beautiful animal sculptures out of scraps of old metal, many of which have homes around the Zoo. His creations include amazingly ornate gates, ladybirds, monkeys and my favourite, the tortoise. Try and find it next time you visit!
