Yep, delighted to be able to add this to your Gallery at Portobello Online. Keep them coming!
The Pillars stand tall in Portobello Community Garden, looking out to the sea. Rescued from the garden of Argyle House near Portobello High Street they are made of press-moulded blocks of Coade Stone, a process invented by Eleanor Coade (1773-1821). In 2006 they were erected in the garden, and are well worth a closer look if you get the chance.
My family and I had a lovely walk along the Prom on Sunday, strong sunshine kept us warm as we walked along the frosty beach.
PS Good to hear from you Bob, another sketch for the album perhaps…
Heh heh, very clever Bob. I like it. Any one else know these three fortunate pillars?
To find the answer you must first solve the coade.
